Do it NOW!

This year I will … or this year I want to … or I plan to….

How often do you say and hear these words at the start of a new year ? Usually they relate to the parts of our lives which we have neglected or procrastinated around during the previous year. Next year I will start to exercise, or follow a healthy diet, or take up a hobby, or give more time for a relationship or read or study more.

What is on your list for this year?

Notice the things that can start immediately. We tend to do the urgent things first and long for a future time when we can do the important stuff.

“I will do it next week / month / year” is to postpone it once again and most likely you will postpone it indefinitely and provide yourself with every excuse as to why. Check for the pattern of procrastination in the words “I will do it later”. To break the pattern is even more important than those things on your list.

The only time to break that pattern is NOW! Start to exercise now. Change your diet today. Read that book tonight. Make the call for the appointment to enhance your relationship now. Change your language to “I will do it now.”

The best time is always NOW.

The festive period gives us the privilege of broken routines and fresh perspectives. What will you make of your 2010 if you start to do what you really want today?
